Earl Hansson June 29, 1939 - July 31, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Earl Edwin Hansson, age 84 years, who passed away on July 31, 2023, at the Dryden Regional Health Centre with his family by his side.

Earl will be forever missed by his wife of 61yrs, Esther Hansson, children Keith (Tammy), Glen (Angie), and Barry, grandchildren Jennifer, Lindsay (Steve), Ryan, Braydon, and Matthew (Chariti), and great grandchildren Theoren, Noah, Ryker, Riley, and Amberly.  He will also be greatly missed by his sisters Ethel, Ruth and Pinkie, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Bill and Evelyn, and brothers Bill, Carl, Eddie, and Elmer.

Born and raised in Waldhof, he met and married the love of his life Esther in 1962 and settled in Waldhof where they raised their family. Earl spent his life ensuring everyone else was guided and supported with the wisdom, knowledge and experience accumulated over his lifetime.

To those who knew him, knew how much he enriched their lives and taught so many life lessons without even trying! His love for family was always felt.  He was always the first to come forward and offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it…family or not. He was like the glue to the family…the person everyone gravitated to at family or friends’ gatherings.

He had a love of nature and way with all animals that would make you think he and the animal were long lost friends.

He had so many great stories and was the type of person you could listen to all day. He also had an amazing wealth of knowledge that often resulted in many of us saying, “Hmmm, I bet Earl would know …I’ll ask him next time I see him.”

He was a wonderful man and avid prospector who spent a lot of his time “Rock pickin”.  It was very important to Grandpa to share his findings with his grandchildren where he would often bring out his magnifier and say, “You need to have a look at this!” Even though searching for gold was his passion he also believed that having a heart of gold was more valuable than an actual rock of gold.

There is no doubt the presence of him in anyone’s life truly was an enriching experience.

Thanks for all the good memories, life lessons and stability you provided to us.  We have lost a truly amazing brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. We know you will keep searching for that pot of gold!

Interment of ashes will take place at a later date in a private ceremony with family and friends.
