David Smith April 8, 1943 - August 31, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David William Smith, who died peacefully on August 31, 2025. Born on April 8, 1943, David lived a full life marked by quiet independence.

A private man by nature, David found contentment in solitude and the simple moments of life. He will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic and offbeat humour.

David is survived by his sister, Lorraine Malyk, and her husband, Gord Malyk. He leaves behind six grandchildren who were the light of his life: Yolanda Harvey, Savanna Debenedet, Rocco Debenedet, Amelia Smith, Gisele Smith, and Elliott Smith. He is also survived by his three remaining children. He will be fondly remembered by his nephew Dale Leutshaft and his wife Doreen, and their children Jolene and Erin.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Olaf and Edith Smith; his sister, Doris Shoguchi; his oldest child, Melanie Harvey; and his partner, Gerry Rob.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff and doctors at the hospital, with special thanks to Dr. Barrie, Dr. Lewis, and nurses Katie and Riley for their exceptional care and support.
