Daniel Mack May 26, 1944 - December 27, 2022

Dan passed away suddenly at his residence at 10 Victoria, as he wished. Dan was born in Fort Frances, ON to Helena (Beth) and George Eric Mack and attended school in Fort Frances until he enlisted in the navy at the age of 17. Dan served in the navy for four years during which time he was married and became the proud father of two boys, David and Daniel. Upon retiring from the navy, he moved with his family to Thunder Bay and had a variety of jobs. A daughter, Dana, was added to the family during which time Dan became a partner in a new company called KBM. He ended his career in Thunder Bay, at Thunder Bay Truck Centre as General Manager.

Dan came to the Dryden area in 1989 to work for Confederation College, a job he thoroughly enjoyed, and made many good friends. He ended his career in Dryden as a customer service rep at the Home Hardware.

All his life, right from a young boy, Dan loved to fish. His favorite times were spent out on the lake, trolling the waters and enjoying the outdoors. His proudest fishing moment was finally catching a walleye on Dog Lake in Thunder Bay, an unknown back then.

After Dan retired, he became involved in the Go-Getters. He was president from 2007 to 2012 but was involved for several years before he was president. He took great pride in the Go-Getters.

Dan is survived by his sister Lorraine (Don) Canning of Penticton, B.C. He also leaves behind his three children, David (Marja), Daniel (Elaine) and Dana (Scott) and seven grandchildren Renee (Shane), Justine (Shane), Shaina-Lynn, James, Carina, Jenna, and Kevin (Lyndsey). He was predeceased by his beloved father, Eric, and mother, Beth, and step-father, Stan Sharp. He loved when his grandchildren visited always taking great interest in their lives and asking many questions. He loved playing cards with his grandchildren as well, and even with his failing eyesight, he still won most crib games.

There are too many services and people to list, but the family would like to thank all his caregivers and friends who were so good to him and helped him along his life’s journey.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

So very sorry to hear that Dan passed away. I always enjoyed our visits every few months. We would chat about this and that and have a laugh or two. He was always content and happy, often talking about his children. I will surely miss our visits. RIP Dan
