Colleen Canan October 17, 1955 - January 22, 2022

In loving memory of Colleen Canan (Davidson), who passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022 at the TBRHC with her loving husband by her side.

Colleen was born October 17, 1955 in Barrhead, Alberta. The joys of Colleen’s life were her family, friends, and pets. Colleen was known for being feisty, tough as nails, smart, and quick witted. You would never win an argument with Colleen. She would tell you what she thought, tell you to smarten up and walk the line. After her telling you what she thought you would leave feeling like you got “told” but were still loved. Colleen loved fiercely and was a big softie on the inside.

Colleen loved animals, she rescued and saved many. Her fur babies Benny and Simon were her joy. Colleen also loved being a Kinette and helping serve her community with her Kin family. Some of our fondest memories of Colleen was how she would bring her family together. She would over feed you. She would take the time to give her thoughts, wisdom and love. Colleen would also give you “shit” like no one else could. She loved to listen to music and race down the highway. The eagles would always guide her path. Colleen loved nature and all it’s beauty.

In Colleen’s final days, she maintained her will to live. She showed so much strength, courage, and resilience. Colleen’s biggest concern was still her family and taking care of them while she fought for her life. She made all the nurses laugh and cry. They loved her and could not believe that she could remain so positive. They said she was “feisty” right to the end.

Colleen had a very special bond with her nieces and nephews. They will always cherish their “Auntie”, that had such a big heart and was a mother figure for them and all their friends. Auntie Colleen always had a shoulder to cry on, and straight shooter advice, (whether you liked it or not). Auntie Colleen had a way of making you feel special, loved and always had your back no matter what!!!  Auntie Colleen loved helping in any way and would always give the shirt off her back.

Colleen will be lovingly remembered by her best friend and husband of 46 years Kenny Canan, her brother Elgen Davidson, best friend Deena, and her large adoring family. Colleen’s last words for all she loved was:  Don’t cry for me. Laugh, love, and stay together as a family. I will be with Eugene and my Mom. I will be watching over you all!

A Celebration of Life fire will take place at 112 Railway Ave. Vermilion Bay on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
