Cheryl Manchulenko December 26, 1944 - May 22, 2025

Date of Funeral

July 16, 2025

Cheryl Leanne Manchulenko, 80, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Cheryl was born December 26, 1944 in Ignace, Ontario. She was raised by her loving grandparents Donald and Gladys McNabb. In May of 1963 Cheryl married her lifelong partner George and they went on to build their family, choosing to remain in Ignace, Ontario.

Cheryl was the heart and soul of her family, known for her quick wit, tenacity and compassion. She was always overjoyed to be around her children, grandchildren and even more so her great-grandchildren. Cheryl raised her three children well opening her doors to her children’s friends, often being told she was like a second mother to many. Cheryl did all this well following in her mother’s footsteps and became the Postmaster of Ignace.

In what was supposed to be her retired years, she led countless committees and organizations such as the Silver Tops, the Cemetery Committee, the Lions Club, and the Legion to name a few. If someone ever needed a helping hand or an advocate, Cheryl was there. She strived for change within her community and did this by leading by example.

Cheryl is predeceased by her son Curtis, her grandparents Donald and Gladys, her husband George, her mother Betty, as well as lifelong friend Fran Zawerchua.

She leaves behind her daughters: Sherri (Earl), Kristen; grandchildren: Brett (Kennedy), Brody, Cole, Shayla and Shane; and great grandchildren: Aria, Kaiden, Lily and Malia. Bonus grandchildren: Christopher and Reagan.

The family wishes to send a special thanks to nurses Jodie and Amy. Words cannot express the gratitude that our family has towards them for the care and compassion that they provided during this time. Special shout out to Auntie Marlene McNabb for her nightly phone call check-ins and youngest great granddaughter “Dr” Malia Harper for being the speck of laughter and joy in her great grandmother final days.

A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held at the Ignace Cemetery on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Tim Barker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ignace Library, Box 480, Ignace, ON P0T 1T0

I’ve known Cheryl almost most of my life. Our mums were close friends. Cheryl and I grew up together as close friends. Our family moved to the U.S. but Cheryl and I stayed in touch. We had too few trips back to Ignace to see her and her family. I will miss her greatly. Hope to see her in heaven.
