With heavy hearts we are sad to announce the passing of Bobbi Shepherd, who passed away peacefully at Dryden Regional Hospital surrounded by loved ones on June 21 2021.
Birte (Bobbi) Shepherd was born on February 8, 1940 in Kolding, Denmark. In 1951 at age 11, Bobbi immigrated to Canada with her Parents Neils and Marie Schmidt, as well as her siblings, Preben and Minna. Upon arrival she quickly picked up English with the help of the neighborhood children and went on to obtain her high school diploma and a nursing degree soon after. She had a long career working for the Dryden Hospital as a Registered Nurse in both the OR and Paediatric wards.
In 1962, she married her loving husband Barry Shepherd and went on to raise a family with two sons Christopher and Andrew. Bobbi enjoyed her days sailing and traveling with her family. She was an avid reader and loved sitting in her sun room enjoying a good book. A loving mother, supportive wife, Bobbi was blessed with five loving grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She had a long successful nursing career and dedicated her later years to caring for patients in their homes. She was a loving and dedicated member of the Lutheran church whose Faith was a constant source of inspiration.
Her retirement years were spent with her family, enjoying frequent trips to Southern Ontario and the west coast to visit her siblings Preben (Lynn) and Mina (Wayne) and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents, Mary and Neils Schmidt. Survived by husband Barry Shepherd, sons; Chris (Janice) and Andrew (Vanessa), grandchildren; Sam (Tyler), Michael, Morgan (Corey), Emma and Nick (Lyla) as well as several nieces and nephews and four 4 great grandchildren.

June 24, 2021 at 5:12 pmDear Chris and Andy and families
Though neighbors for years I never got to see your Mom very often. I did remember her checking on us while in Chris’s room one day playing. I do, however recall my Mom speaking fondly about your mom. You see, Bobbi took care of Mom while she was palliative in her home. My mom had nothing but the nicest things to say about how your Mom took care of her. IN fact, I recall how Mom said Bobbi phoned and even walked over several times to check on her outside of whatever her duties actually were supposed to be. I will always remember how fondly my Mom spoke of Mrs. Sheppard. It takes a special person to care for the terminally ill as your Mom did so gracefully. Not a day goes by I don’t think of my Mom and I am sure you will be the same. The Loss of Janice’s Mom so close no doubt made this far more difficult. Please accept my most sincere condolences on the loss of your Mom. Her grace and compassion when dealing with my Mom will not be forgotten
