Heaven gained an angel on June 21, 2025. Barry Delmar Weberg was born March 8, 1947 in Dryden, ON. Barry was the third of seven children to enlighten the lives of Delmar and Edna (Dixon) Weberg. Barry was raised in Eagle River and never moved far away. In 1967, Barry met the love of his life Sharon (Calvert) whom he married November 16, 1968 and moved to Minnitaki, ON. In 1969, Kevin arrived to bless their small family, and they moved back to Eagle River. Once settled into their new home, their second son Todd soon followed in 1971 to make their family complete.
Throughout his life, Barry believed in learning, MacGyvering and sharing his knowledge with others. Barry was an avid fisherman and a deer and moose hunter, a love for the outdoors he shared with his sons and family members whenever he had the chance. He learned how to speak Ojibway, he voluntarily took groups of eager young learners out camping, fishing and taught them outdoor survival skills. Barry worked for the Municipality of Machin for a couple years back in the day and ultimately ended up at the Dryden Pulp and Paper Company. He retired in 2003 at the age of 56 after 35 years of service. His favorite part about the mill was working on the tugboat pushing logs around the Wabigoon River. Along with driving the wood trucks, Barry also worked as a Koehring machine operator and in the finishing room. After retirement, Barry guided for Pine Beach Lodge and the adventures and stories were endless as were the many friends he made. A guest never left without a great story and true experience of the North thanks to Barry’s kindness and knowledge of our great outdoors!! The Cabin on Eagle River was a place Barry loved and celebrated many family gatherings, sleep overs with the grandkids and scary stories. Can’t forget the challenges of a good game of horseshoes and an evening ride on his pontoon boat.
No one can forget the humour, trickery and tomfoolery that Barry was always up to. If he wasn’t telling you a joke, he was setting you up for one and that laugh!! In his younger years, Barry loved to dance and when he and Larry Danielson got going at the old Eagle River Hall, everyone cleared the dance floor and cheered them on. Once spring arrived, you could find Barry in his greenhouse making sure his harvest was plentiful so he could share it with others.
Barry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon, his son Todd (Kathy), grandchildren Morgan Hourie, Natasha Hourie of Rosedale, B.C, Kristen Adams of Fort Frances, Ryan Evans of Sylvan Lake, AB, Cory (Briana) Evans of Sylvan Lake, AB, great-grandchildren: Jonas Hourie-James, Dayton Hourie, Jenna Lee Rusk, Audi Johnson, Jaxson and Mercedie Evans, Kaiden and Keaton Evans. Siblings: Bruce (Colleen) Weberg, Betty-Lou Maslach, Brenda (Grant) Dowswell, Bernice (Rick) Puttick, Barbara (Barry) Funk and Bradley (Jo-anne) Weberg. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
