Annie Helena Schlecht September 7, 1930 - March 23, 2023

Our much loved and cherished Mother and Grandmother, Anne Helena Schlecht (nee Nieser), passed away on March 23, 2023, at the age of 92, with family and friends by her side at DRHC.

Anne was friendly and cheerful, and always had a smile.  She could be described as kind, honest, caring, loving, faithful, gracious, and yet independent. Those who knew her, knew of her huge heart, that she was an excellent mother, was a wonderful cook, and could be counted on to keep a confidence.   Because of her generous spirit and sense of humour she had many friends of many ages.

Anne was born in Beausejour, MB on September 7, 1930 but grew up in Golden Bay.  Anne married August Schlecht September 1949. She and her husband spent a few memorable years on Vancouver Island and then moved to Dryden where she lived most of her life.

Anne graduated with a grade 8 education but was obviously a keen student as she went on to become a manager at NESCO. She learned a great deal about electrical, heating and plumbing there.  She often remarked that she enjoyed her work because she was interested and liked to learn new things. All her life she was a hard worker and worked in various capacities.

Anne was a woman of strong faith and was very involved with Our Saviour Lutheran Church.  She sang in the choir and served in women’s ministries.  One such ministry was making and sending needed items for infants.  She also served the community with her involvement with the Loyal Order of the Moose. She eventually earned the title of Senior Regent. She also volunteered with the Association for Community Living.

Anne is survived by her children: Lanley, Bonnie, and Lana and grandchildren: Melissa (Cliff), Vanessa (Cam) and Ryan (Andrea) and six great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband August, her parents and all of her six siblings.

The family of Anne wishes to thank the staff at DHRC, Dr. Goulet for their excellent care.  Thanks to goes to the staff of Princess Court for their kindness and compassion during her stay there.

We will always love and miss you until we can meet again.

We spoke with Aunty Anne on occasion and she had a great sense of humour. She always said she graduated from the university of Goldon Bay. We will miss her cheery voice.
Our parting is not the end of our relationship, only an interruption. Our loved ones are experiencing the joy of Christ’s presence in a place so wonderful that Christ called it PARADISE. And one day, we’re told, in a magnificent reunion they and we “will be with the LORD forever, therefore encourage each other with these words. Connie, Carrolyn, Wilf and Cliff.
