Aleea Smith

February 28th 1981 to August 6th 2018

A daughter, sister, wife and mother.

Born in North York, Ontario.

Predeceased: Mariam Khan (Grandmother) and Ahmad Khan (Grandfather).

During Aleea’s childhood, she was a sports enthusiast who loved to watch and play volleyball, basketball, baseball, hockey, and track and field. Aleea was very close with her grandmother and grandfather. For the first 12 years of her life, Aleea and her mother (Haneah Khan) were a dynamic duo who would play sports and travel around Ontario together, bonding as family and friends. Then her sister (Aneesa Alladin) was born and it was the beginning of the sisterly bond that could never be broken.

After earning straight ‘A’s in high school, Aleea attended the University of Toronto, earning a B.Sc. in Kinesiology, Sheridan College for Sports Medicine certificate, and finally Lakehead University for Teacher’s College. Her love of exploring the outdoors by fishing and camping combined with her passion for community building through teaching would be the seed of growth for starting her life in Northern Ontario. Aleea then made the move in 2010 from Toronto to Savant Lake to teach and met the love of her life, David Smith, her Lion King.

During her time in Savant, she was a positive social influence in the community. Her love for teaching was a truest expression of her endless support for the community. She also held and participated in major events such as the Annual Fishing Derby, movie nights for the kids, cooking time, and arts and crafts.

Aleea and David were married in October 2013; the hunt was over for her partner and their life together began. The love Aleea and David shared was powerful and spread throughout their community and families. On August 31, 2015, Aleea and David became parents and brought their beautiful son (Isaac Victor Smith) into the world.

The family they built had a strong foundation made of the love and they made room for one more wonderful child. Aleea and David soon became pregnant with their second child. They were excited and prepared for their baby girl’s big debut. Unfortunately, rather than the expected joyous occasion, Aleea suddenly passed away in childbirth. Thanks to the amazing team at Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre, Aleea miraculously gave new life to their daughter.

Survived by: David Smith (Husband), Isaac Smith (Son), Baby Girl (Daughter), Haneah Khan (Mother), Aneesa Alladin (Sister), Heather and Darrell Densmore (Sister and Brother in-law), Leah Smith (Sister in-law), Faith and Grace Densmore (Nieces), and Barb Smith (Mother in-law).

There will be no visitation. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Full Gospel Church with Pastor Nik Amodeo officiating. Interment will follow in the Dryden Cemetery.
