Albert Hautakangas February 12, 1940 - March 22, 2023

Date of Funeral

March 30, 2023

It is with sadness in our hearts, we announce the passing of Albert Hautakangas at the age of 83 years.

Albert was born in Dinorwic, Ontario on February 12, 1940, to Waino and Eileen Hauta. They moved to Manitoba in 1944, where Albert attended public school.

After graduating from Dryden High School in 1957, he immediately started employment with Dryden Paper Co. which lasted for 40 and a half years, before his retirement on January 1, 1998.

On December 15, 1958, he married Dianne Krieger, the love of his life. They were blessed with three sons, the youngest of whom pre-deceased them at the age of 19 years. During their long, happy life together, they resided in Manitoba, Dryden, and Wabigoon.

In his younger days, Albert was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed many successful hunts with his father and brother. However, once he moved to Wabigoon, he found it more rewarding to shoot them with a camera and feed them in his backyard all winter long. Albert loved fishing, the outdoors and how the families used to spend every weekend camping together in their earlier days.

During his lifetime, Albert served on many committees and belonged to numerous organizations. His proudest accomplishment was his Lay Readers at St. John’s Anglican Church in Wabigoon, and he looked forward to the Sundays where he would be attending the services.

Albert is survived by his two sons Brian (K) and Randy (Denise), sister Noreen (Dan) and brother Waino (Pinky). He will also be remembered by his stepchildren Nancy, Brant and Ken. He was a loving papa to Tija (Jared), Sarah (Ray), Andrea (Brett), Cynthia (Henry) and Tina’s six grandchildren. He also leaves behind fourteen great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law.

Albert is predeceased by his wife Dianne, second wife Tina, son Douglas, parents Waino and Eileen as well as his best friend Charles Edward (Ted) Jorgensen.
