It is with sadness that we announce that Osvalda Rosina Franklin (nee Morise), 86, of Dryden, Ontario, unexpectedly passed away from natural causes on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at her home.

Osvalda was born in St. Vincent, Italy, in Aosta Valley, on April 26, 1940, to Giuseppe and Ines (nee Nousan) Morise.  She spoke four languages fluently.  After graduating from teachers’ college, she taught elementary school for many years.  Later she obtained a degree from Concordia University, Majoring in Theology, and continued to teach a bilingual kindergarten class.

Osvalda was very involved in her church and community throughout her life and contributed many years as a board member of Dryden Hospital. She was also a long-time member of Toastmasters.  She enjoyed entertaining people with music and stories.  Her greatest joy was running the children’s choir at church.

She will be missed by many.

Osvalda was predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon Stanley Franklin, and is lovingly remembered by her two children, Ammaree (Ann Marie) Hanson (husband David) and Donald Gordon (wife Anne).  She was preceded in death by her parents as well as brother Henry (Armando) and sister Odile.  She will also be missed by her many nephews and nieces.

Viewing will take place at the Dryden Community Funeral Home on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 5-6 p.m. A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Mike Mahoney officiating. A Graveside farewell will follow at the Dryden Cemetery.
