Wayne (“Hooker”) was born on May 23, 1949 in Port Arthur, but he lived in Dryden for the past 50 years. His work had him out of town much of his life, but he managed to marry and raise a family, maintain a hobby farm, and participate in many, many of the activities this area has to offer. Curling, darts, golf, and trapshooting were all regular activities for him, and cross-country skiing and nature walks. His real passions though, were duck hunting, and fishing in any season. He did both in any weather and any location and got a few of the next generation started. A great friend, a great Uncle, and the best Dad ever!
An injury combined with the covid lockdown triggered declining health, but most of his life was good times with good friends, and a solid, loving family life. His final happiness was the birth of his granddaughter last summer. He loved the visits and the videos!
Wayne was predeceased by his parents Terry (Ture) and Dorothy Hooke (nee Kerr), his brother Terry Hooke, his brother-in-law Gary Donley, and his sister-in-law Cheryl Hooke. He is survived by his wife BettyLou Hooke (nee Ellwood), his daughter Innis Brodhagen (Dusty), his son Ture Hooke, and his cherished granddaughter Kira Brodhagen. Also, by his brother Gary Hooke, sisters Sharen Harris (Rob) and Linda Donley, sister-in-law Helen Hooke, brothers-in-law Barry Ellwood (Rosemary) and Terry Ellwood (Leni). And finally, by his beloved furry friends ZsaZsa and Fargo.
There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
As per his wishes, there will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Second Chance Pet Network, Box 343, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z1

April 1, 2025 at 7:11 pmHooker was a wonderful uncle to our kids, a great father to his, and a loving partner to our sister Bet.
We will always think of you as the outdoorsman you were. So glad we got to visit with you in February this year and so happy you got to meet Kira “Pepper” before you left us . She will carry on your “ginger” legacy.
