On July 12, 2024, in her 87th year, Sandra was called home to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Cherished sister to Douglas (Sheila) Macdonald and beloved wife of the late Ray J. Peck. Loving mother of Michael (KC) Harrison and Jack (Jeannine) Harrison and loving step-mother of Barney Peck and Tonya Slater. Proud grandmother to Shawnda Peck (Shane), Danille (Tracey) Peck, Brian (Helena) Peck, Tyrell (Krystale) Slater, Jonathan Slater, Amanda (Gerry) Calvert-Shaw, Celeste (Mike) Harrison, Jacqueline (Mike) Pinette, Lianne Harrison and proud great grandmother to Ryan, Kole, Payge, Sophie, Emma, Finn, Hazel, Ben, Burke, Theodore, Elizabeth and Kya. She was predeceased by her parents, Ernest “Duke” Macdonald and Janetta Mabel Macdonald nee Percival.
Sandra “Sandy” Macdonald was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to Dryden at three months old when her father became employed at the Dryden Paper Company in 1937. She graduated from Dryden High School in 1955 and Success Business College in Winnipeg in 1956. Sandy worked in various businesses including the Dryden Paper company and the Dept. of Lands and Forests. She met and married Frank Harrison in 1957 and they had two children, Michael and Jack. The marriage ended in 1970 by mutual agreement and in 1971, she met and later married Ray J. Peck who had two children of his own, Barney and Tonya. Sandy and Ray had a wonderful life at Peck’s Evergreen Lodge and Birch Lake Lodge during the summers and during the winters they enjoyed SanaRay Ranch in Corvallis Montana. The life of a tourist camp operator suited her perfectly. She loved to fish, hunt, ride horses and meet people. She loved the diversity of a camp operator and the challenges it provided. When the Chef quit, she simply moved into the kitchen and added “Chef” to her resume. In 1984 Ray and Sandy decided to retire and they sold the tourist camp and built a lovely home on Eagle Lake. They took many trips, visiting Florida, California, Alaska, New Zealand and Australia to name a few. In 1990 Sandy began working for the Home Support for Seniors Program in Vermillion Bay. She thoroughly enjoyed driving the Municipality of Machin Seniors bus until her final retirement in 2002. After retirement, she and Ray created Canada North Tackle to make and sell fishing tackle to tourist camps and businesses in the region until 2014. In 2013, Ray and Sandy moved permanently to Dryden.
Sandy was an active member of the church she attended in each community she lived. She joined the Seniors Friendship Club of Eagle River and eventually became their president. Once in Dryden, she joined the Dryden Go Getters Senior Centre and enjoyed socializing with its many wonderful members.
Sandra was a loving and vivacious person with an infectious zest for life and a generous person who went out of her way to help all those around her. She particularly loved being around family, cooking meals, playing cards and spoiling grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her family would like to acknowledge the love and support she received in her final years at Timberlands Estates and the Dryden Go Getters.

We are sorry to hear of Sandy’s passing. She was a fine lady. I worked with her at the Department of Lands and Forests in 1970 and we kept in touch over the years. Our thoughts are with you. She will be missed.
