Russell Pecarskie April 10, 1966 - January 30, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Russell Pecarskie on the afternoon of January 30th, 2025 at the age of 58, at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.

Russell is predeceased by his parents Joseph and Annie Mary Pecarski (née Stoppa), and sister Ivy Jean Mask. Russell is survived by his two children Tanner (Steph) and Khali (Jake), granddaughter Ayla, brothers Clayton (Tracey), David (Michaeline), Lloyd, and Terry, brother-in-law Reggie Mask, nieces Tiffany (Adrian), Crystal (Garrett), Kelsey (Adam) and Jordan (Colton), and nephews Kody (Elizabeth) and Joey.

Russell was born and raised in Barry’s Bay, Ontario, later moving to Longlac, Ontario in the 1980’s, where he worked at the Longlac Wood Industries Plywood factory and started a family. After the mid-2000’s closure of LWI, Russell returned home to the Ottawa Valley for several years before moving to Fort McMurray to work for North American Construction Group as an Equipment Operator. After falling ill, Russell moved to Dryden, Ontario in 2022, where he remained until his passing.

As an avid hunter and fisherman, Russell loved to spend time in the bush and on the water, whether he was looking for moose, deer or trying to land the big one through the ice or from the boat. Russell had made countless memories over the years with family and friends while toting a rifle or rod and reel.

The family would like to extend their gratitude towards the nurses and doctors who provided support to him throughout his battle with lung cancer.

As per Russell’s wishes, a visitation will not be held as cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
