Roger Louis Joseph Morin, born September 17, 1953 left us peacefully on June 10, 2025 surrounded by family. He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan but always called Vermilion Bay home.
Roger is survived by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Sharon, 2 daughters, Mandy (Jason), Raelene (Aaron), son Jessey, and four grandchildren, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Tayleigh, and Mary; as well as his siblings, Giselle, Dan (Rose), and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Yvonne and Emmanuel, his sister Lynda Roussin, and nephew Luke Holland and many other family he loved.
His favorite past time was on the lake, fishing with his wife and buddies. He almost made it on to America’s Funnies Videos with his famous fight with the fish hooked where one should never be hooked. Before his health started to fail, he enjoyed his winters in Puerto Vallarta enjoying walks in the great weather. He could talk to anyone, making friends everywhere he went.
Roger was proudest of his 39 years ironworking with Local 759. Anyone who knew him used the word hardworking to describe him. He has many friends from the many projects he was part of and leaves his fingerprints on buildings across Canada. His love for a crane was known by many; for where there was a crane, iron was lifted.
Roger left this world the simple man he always was and left instructions that anyone wishing to celebrate his life come in their favourite jeans.
His service will be held at the Dryden Funeral Home on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 11 a.m.
followed immediately by internment at the Vermilion Bay Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Lung Association, 502-885 Meadowlands Dr. Ottawa, ON K2C 3N2 are requested.
A beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, Roger will be in our hearts forever. Rest easy Roger … until we meet again.
