Rhonda Swiatkevich February 22, 1959 - November 8, 2023

Date of Funeral

November 18, 2023

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Nana, Sister, Auntie and Friend, who passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 8, 2023 at Dryden Regional Health Centre.

She leaves behind to cherish many years of memories: her husband Tony, daughter Shannon, son in law Pete, son Kyle, daughter in law Kyla and her pride and joy Kaden (Lexi), Karsten and Kody.

Rhonda is predeceased by her parents, and her son Jeremy who they lost at birth.

Rhonda was born in Warroad, MN on February 22, 1959, to Mike and Ettie Krasniuk. She grew up on a farm in Middlebro, MB with her siblings Gene, Laura and Mona. At a young age she met a young man at a dance who she would need her dad to sign to allow their marriage at the age of 17. This past July they celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. After they were married, they moved to Atikokan and shortly after Steinbech then their last move would be to Dryden in 1978, where they would build a home and start a family. Rhonda started a home daycare and watched many children in the area while being able to stay at home and raise her own children. She loved all her kids. When Kyle started school she decided to join the workforce outside of the home and worked numerous restaurants in town. Where she made lots of friendships. But the job she loved the most was working with children and before she fell ill, she was able to work as an EA in our local schools. This allowed her to be able to make sure she got her grandboys off the bus and always a meal was waiting for them to eat before they jetted off to hockey or baseball. In 2016, Kody joined our family and she enjoyed all the time she could spend trying to do her hair in pigtails or getting her ready for dance or gymnastics after school.

Rhonda lived for her family, always putting everyone before herself. Every Sunday we all gathered as a family and had Sunday Suppers. All the summers camping and on the pontoon boat will be memories we will always cherish.

IF LOVE COULD OF SAVED YOU, YOU WOULD HAVE LIVED FOREVER

Our family would like to thank the staff and nurses at Dryden Regional Health Centre. Special thanks to Dr. Moir, Dr. Viherjoki, Dr. Doiron, Dr. Wittig, staff in the oncology unit, CCAC staff, Laine, Melissa, Kelly Carlucci and Chantal Wisneski, Thunder Bay Regional Oncology Unit, Dr. Aseyev, Dr. Al-Katari and Dr. Ramschander and staff at Shoppers Drug Mart.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Unifor Hall with Mardi Plomp officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date.

    Our Sister Rhonda,
It is with great difficulty parting the mixture of emotions knowing that your relentless battle is over and you are finally at peace, and on the other hand thoughts will linger that You are gone from us.
It made me so proud to read the personal testament that your Loved One’s depicted of Who You were to them in your Obituary; and it is an accurate reflection of the type of person You were and how you strived to pass on your values to each and every one of your family members.
Realizing that You are gone, we have to give the utmost Love and admiration to the One’s that gave their support throughout your extended ordeal.
I would like to express my highest praise and respect beyond what a person can imagine to your Husband Tony, this being based on what I witnessed when I made the trip to assure I said my goodbye to You a short time ago. He will be forever in my thoughts for the efforts he made on a daily basis to make your life the most comfortable it could be. Shannon/Pete, Kyle/Kyla, Karsten, Kody, and Kaden (Lexi) for supporting and putting in the efforts to make Tony’s life more bearable during the latter years of your Mom’s life.
In closing; I couldn’t imagine I’d be writing something like this so soon, and it is quite evident that we have no guaranteed timeline in this world!
With that being said, just wanted to pass on something to you all from the words of Rhonda, when we were saying our goodbye’s. She expressed that she was tired and ready to give up the fight because she had lived the most blessed life with her husband Tony, and together had raised the most wonderful family to which I agreed. Please accept our deepest sympathies for your loss of our Sister, your Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.
    Love, Gene & Jackie Krasniuk
