It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of beloved brother, uncle, and Papa Peter Pitchenese on Tuesday, December 26th, 2017, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Peter is survived by; his brothers; Harry Pitchenese Jr. (Dolly), Daniel Pitchenese (Phyllis) and nephews Aaron and Kelsey and niece Jennifer (Ron), his favourite grand babies; Ian, Dallis, Jersey, and Jaelin, brother; Vernon Jack Pitchenese and nephews Miles, Zack and niece Jenny Pitchenese, his sisters; Beverly and nephews Rocco, Wilfred and niece Margie, Julia (Mike) nephew Kevin and nieces Samantha and Cynthia, Isabel nieces Corinna and Nicole and nephew Stephan, his nephews Roger Ronny, Leonard Gardner JR and niece Tina Gardner. Also by; numerous great nieces and nephews, brother-in-law Leonard Gardner SR and the Fobister family from Grassy Narrows First Nation.

Peter was predeceased by; his parents; Harry Pitchenese Sr. and Mary Ann (Fobister) Pitchenese, brothers; Albert and Leonard and sisters; Elsie, Margaret and Victoria.

Peter was born in Dryden, Ontario on May 1st, 1949. He worked as a carpenter and fishing guide for Century Lodge (Eagle Lake) for many years, he loved to fish with his brothers and sisters. He also loved to camp out and enjoyed the outdoors like living the old traditional ways. He attended many Powwows and followed the traditional Ojibwe way. He loved to help others and was loved by many.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 31st, 2017 from 11 a.m. until time of service at the Migisi Sahgaigan School.

A Traditional Service will take place on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Migisi Sahgaigan School with a Native Elder officiating.

Interment will follow in the Eagle Lake Cemetery.
