It is with great sadness that we announce Patricia Margaret Mabel Rentz (nee O’Bryan) aged 84 years of Dryden, Ontario peacefully passed away on Monday July 18, 2022, at Dryden Regional Health Centre surrounded by loved ones. Patricia is survived by her children Gordon, David
(Tracie) and Jennifer (James), her sister Lynne Brocks and her five beloved grandchildren Kaitlin, Emily, Adam, Michael, and Marissa. She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth and her parents, William O’Bryan and Helen Chick.
Patricia was born and grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba with her little sister Lynne and her mother Helen. Her Father William a navigator was killed in action in the Second World War. As a young person she was active within the church where she met the love of her life Ken and they were married September 12, 1959, at Grey Street United.
Ken’s work in the ministry took them on many adventures. While living in Gainsborough Saskatchewan they welcomed Gordon. From there they moved to Wawanesa, Manitoba, where David was born. They then relocated to Thunder Bay, Ontario, where Jennifer was born. The young family then moved to Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, followed by Fort Mc Murray, Alberta before finally settling in Dryden, Ontario.
While living in Dryden Pat continued to serve the church as a member of various committees. She was also the president of Unit 2. She especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible school where she worked closely with her friend Alicia. Another of her joys was Tea and Chat she organized with her friend Alice which brought fellowship to many of the church ladies. After the death of her husband Ken in 1996 Pat learned how to drive and became a volunteer delivering Meals on Wheels with her friend Nova. She also volunteered at the Dryden Regional Health Center in the oncology department. Pat enjoyed her time providing warm blankets, conversation and juice to the patients. As a member of the Pastoral Care Committee, she visited people both in the hospital and at home
Over the last few years Pat’s battle with Congestive heart failure slowed her down resulting in her inability to attend church services. Nevertheless, she continued to be interested in the activities of the church and looked forward to the weekly delivery of the order of service. Pat was a kind soul who quietly dedicated herself to helping others. She will be greatly missed.
