Our family is saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Nathan Lundstrom on Oct 27, 2023, at the age of 42.
Nathan was born in Dryden on April 1, 1981 to Douglas and Joan Lundstrom. He was the baby in the family and was protected and spoiled by all of us as he was growing up.
He had a gentle, compassionate, and giving heart, which was demonstrated when his mother was ill. He assisted with the care she needed with no hesitation, showing her patience, unconditional love, and loyalty. He showed the same compassion with his father as well and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
He was a huge animal lover and any fur baby who came into his home was given much love and treats and the best life he could offer them. Nathan also loved movies and music and going to concerts, often dressing in his Deftones or Smashing Pumpkins shirts and hats. He enjoyed road trips to go shopping in the city and to see his favourite musicians. He was also content to stay home and have a quiet night in watching movies with his close friend, Alicia.
Nathan loved watching all sports on the TV with his dad whether it was curling, football, soccer, tennis, or the Olympics. He was a Detroit Red Wings fan. He had many interests and hobbies such as learning how to fix vehicles with his dad, electronics, art, and drawing, and playing cards. He was a formidable opponent when playing Scrabble!
His career path took him to work for Health Canada in Sioux Lookout, travelling to many Northern communities as a Drinking Water Program Coordinator. He made lifelong friends during his time there. He always gravitated back to his hometown and the house that he grew up in, but never lost the connections he made in Sioux Lookout.
Nathan is survived by his father Douglas, brother Kevin, sister Heather (Jeff), nieces Rebecca (Raven), Emily, Samantha (Natalia), nephews Troy and Trent, great-nephew Talon, great-niece Blossom, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He leaves behind his long-time close friend, companion and supporter, Alicia. He will also be missed by his precious pets, Xena (aka Fuzzy) and Gabe.
Nathan was predeceased by his mother, Joan Lundstrom, brother Gregory Lundstrom, and Grandparents Claude and Irene McArthur, and Clarence and Olive Lundstrom. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins passed before him.
We take comfort knowing he has now been reunited with his mother and his older brother.
