It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marjorie Martin. Marjorie passed away peacefully at Princess Court in Dryden on June 21, 2025 with her loving daughters by her side. Marj was born in Timmins, ON to Arminta & Aenias Martin. Her Dad passed at a young age leaving her Stepdad George (Mickey) Martin to raise her along with her mom. Marj was very close with her mom. The relationship they had was special. This could be the reason that Marj was so full of Love. Her greatest treasures in life were her family. She could sit and talk for hours, showing you old photos she had tucked away in her purse. She always had so many stories. As soon as she would meet someone, she always asked about their family tree, she loved knowing who people belonged to.
Marjorie married Allan Martin at a young age. They spent a lifetime together prior to Allan’s passing in 2022. They raised 4 children, owned numerous businesses and worked hard their entire lives. Whether it be at Al Martin & Sons in Pickle Lake, A restaurant in Perrault Falls, or the Hide-Away Motel in Dryden. They worked together, and they worked hard among helping raise their grandkids and always being the rock for the family.
Marjorie loved baking (especially pastries) She made the best apple pie!! She loved Curling & Bowling; she was on a league and was very good at both in her younger years. Marj & Al enjoyed watching Curling on TV. Marj always had her knitting beside her. She loved making mittens and socks for her kids & grandkids.
Marj had a big heart for her cats over the years. Especially “Peppy la peau” aka Peppy or peppers. Marj used to bring that cat everywhere with her. Including road trips. Peppy laid in the back window of the car. Marj & Al actually took this cat on a road trip to Calgary to visit family friends. Peppy snuck out of the hotel room, and they spent days looking for her. Finally, they had to go home without peppy. Marj was sick to her stomach not having her cat and knowing if her cat was okay. She ended up flying back out there, and stayed in a camper with cans of tuna set out lure Peppy in. Sure, enough that cat came walking into the camper. You could imagine how happy Marj was to be able to bring her cat back home.
Marjorie will be missed by her daughters Debby (Rod) Turpin and Shelby Martin. Grandchildren; Teri-Lyn Martin, Jimmy Martin, Bryan Turpin (Laura), Chrystal (Mike) Kellar, Alana Martin, Kylan Zawada (Brittany), Billy (Alica) Rice, & Leeah (Mark) Lucas. Along with 15 great grandchildren. Sister Bonnie Martin, Brother Greg (Cheryl) Martin & many nieces & nephews.
Marjorie was predeceased by her Dad Aenias Martin, Stepdad George Martin, her Mom Arminta Martin, her husband Allan Martin, her Son’s Billy Martin & Ricky Martin, Brother Scott Martin, Nephew Lance Martin, Grandson Steven Turpin.
Marjorie’s request is to be laid to rest with her parents in Timmins, ON. We will have a private family Service in the summer of 2026. We would like to express our deep appreciation for the Staff at Princess Court and Dr. Cortens for taking care of our mom, our grandma, and sister. You listened to her wishes, you respected her, you listened to her stories. She was lucky to be in such great care.
Till we meet again Mom, Love you…
