Kenneth Lechelt November 9, 1956 - July 27, 2020

Condolences may be posted at www.dcfh.ca or sent to mail@dcfh.ca subject heading: Lechelt

Kenneth Douglas Lechelt was born November 9, 1956 in Dryden to Ron and Vangie (McDonald) Lechelt. Except for times away for work, he lived in Dryden all of his life. He often expressed how lucky he was with the wonderful parents and family he had growing up.

Ken worked hard in the construction industry in various positions and across the country. In his younger years he loved to party and had a hot tub he built which allowed for 27 occupants. Fishing and camping were his favourite activities along with putting his ice shack out and winning the year’s best. He dressed up for Halloween costume competitions. Ken was always an enthusiastic participant and he lit up a room when he came in with his smile. He wasn’t afraid to try anything and made others challenge themselves. No one could dance better.

Ken loved his family, his friends and his pets. He was respectful and kind and would help anyone out. He will be sadly missed by anyone who truly knew him.

Ken leaves to mourn his passing his wife Danalyn, stepson Dylan, granddaughter Emily, brothers Brian and Wayne (Marlene), niece Alica (Paul) Larsen and great nephews Nicholas and Nathan, mother in law Margarette, brothers in law Larry (Irma), Shayne (Sharon), Scott (Barb) MacKinnon and numerous other relatives in the Lechelt and McDonald families.

Ken was pre-deceased by  his loving parents Ron and Vangie Lechelt, father-in-law Dan MacKinnon, step-daughter Devon Ottertail and his best friend Dave Peplinski. We hope Ken and Dave are playing tunes and enjoying good fishing!

The family would like to thank all of the Personal Support Workers who assisted Ken during his struggles with COPD, friends who visited him, Dr. Cortens and Dr. Bester, the Labourer’s Union to which he was dedicated, Dale Wilson who was always there to help, the ambulance staff and Dryden Police Service members.

Cremation has taken place. Everyone is welcome to join us in a Celebration of Ken’s Life to be held at the Ukrainian Hall (Unifor) on August 27, 2020 from 2 to 4 p.m. for music, food, beverages and reminiscing. (social distancing/masks)
