In loving memory of a beautiful soul with a smile and laugh that could light up a room. It is with great sorrow we share the passing of Karon Hourie- Kelly.
Karon is survived by her loving husband Ron that she affectionately referred to as “My Honey”. Children Pamela (Paul) Kelly & Kevin (Kyla) Kelly and her fur babies, Troubles and Winnie, who filled her heart with pride and joy. Siblings: Stuart Hourie (Laura); Kelly Hourie (Clarence); Marshall Hourie (Mary); & Leonard Hourie. Auntie/Momma to Shaun, Chelsea, Ariel, and Tyler. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family that she loved and cared for very much.
Karon was predeceased by her parents, Christopher & Barbara Hourie. Her sister Patrecia Hourie, and brother, Everet Hourie.
Karon was a member of Pinaymootang First Nation, Manitoba with a special love and connection to Eagle River. She was an avid fisherman who would fish sun up to sun down if she had her way. When Karon wasn’t on the lake, there was a good chance she was playing bingo. She played as often as she could and loved to attend with her “Special Bingo Buddy” David Kelly.
Karon was a dedicated school bus driver for Wabauskang First Nation. She loved watching the kids grow up over the years and cared deeply for each and everyone of them. In addition, she was also involved in elder care and PSW work at Wabauskang. Karon loved helping the community and took pride in the work she did. She was always quick to help anyone in need and lived her life with love, compassion and faith.
The Kelly/Hourie Family would like to thank the Dryden Regional Hospital for the dedicated care provided to Karon during her final hours. Special thanks to Chief and Council from Eagle Lake First Nation, Wabauskang First Nation, and Pinaymootang First Nation as well as community members for the extraordinary amount of love and support shown during this difficult time.
Special thanks to our pallbearers Andy (Sonny) Parenteau, Robin Bacon, Brian Etherington, Jon-Allen Gardner, Duncan Hourie, Fred Hourie, and our cross-bearer Roy Hourie.
