We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of James Stewart Shearer. He was born January 20, 1935 in Bancroft, Ontario.
He is survived by wife Hilda (nee Jardine) of 64 years, son James and daughter-in-law Leianne, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Alicia and Andrew Saunders (Jonathan, Alexzander, Camryn and Maggie), James and Cathy Shearer (Amber, Jenna, Liam, Lily and Ava), Geoff and Carley Shearer (Haley, Jacob, Paisley, Jayden and Janae), and Alexzandria and Brock Penner (Seely), sister Irene and brother Jack (Mary), sister-in-law’s Joyce (Bob), Janice and Betty and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents Robert and Alma Shearer (nee Ferrill), brother Robert (Joyce), sister-in-law Jenny (Jack) and brother-in-law’s Howard (Irene), Bill (Janice) and Jim (Betty).
Jim past away suddenly at the age of 86 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Saturday, June 5, 2021 with his wife and son by his side with grandchildren and great grandchildren watching at the window. He loved snow shoeing, bowling, stamp collecting, gardening, playing guitar and harmonica, watching hockey, going for a walk, fishing and computer puzzles. His greatest joy was his family. He was enormously proud of each one, his final words to his grandchildren were “I love you each” and to his great grandchildren, “I wish I could walk in the field with you again”. He always led in our family Christmas morning prayer.

June 8, 2021 at 4:16 amWe have such great memories of Jim as he and Hilda faithfully loved us in our Youth Group at Faith Baptist, Whitby in the 60’s. We looked forward to our Friday nights at Youth and now we look forward to seeing Jim again, for we absolutely know that “Absent from the body, present with the Lord…”. We send our love to Hilda and the family. We hold you all in our hearts and in our prayers. ❤️

June 9, 2021 at 6:43 pmSending love and prayers to Hilda, James and family. We have such fond memories of your beloved Jim. He was such a great friend to my dad for the years my parents lived and died in Dryden. Picking my dad up for bowling and church once he could no longer drive, sitting in his nursing home playing their instruments together, sharing so many laughs and reading God’s word together and then watching hockey games. His loving friendship will never be forgotten and they are now in Heaven together waiting for the rest of us to join them one day. God comfort your hearts at this time. Loretta and Wayne Harvey of Halifax
James D Shearer says
June 24, 2021 at 2:34 pmLoretta and Wayne, thank you so much for your loving prayers and support during this time. We remember dad so loving his time together with your dad! We remember my mom so loving her friendship with your mom. They were good friends and companions to each other. Dad, Mom, Leianne and I have often remarked about their love and compassion for souls to know Jesus. Above the hockey, stamps, music, preaching, bowling and all the other things that they had in common their love for Jesus Christ topped everything in their life. Thank you so much for your prayers for our family.

May God bless you and your family.
