Gertrude Elizabeth Maunsell

September 17th, 1935 – September 5th, 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Gertrude (Gertie) Maunsell, who passed away peacefully at the Dryden Hospital on September 5th, with her family by her side.

She is survived by her 3 daughters, Kristine Kaemingh (David), Sheila Arsenault (Marcel), Valerie Kennedy (Darren), grandchildren Jeremy Kennedy (Stephanie), Megan Polakoski (Tyler), Ben Arsenault (Nicole), Rebecca Kondra (Dom), Derek Kaemingh (Ana), Emmy Arsenault (Cole), Janelle Kaemingh (Aaron), and great-grandchildren, Kasey and Jude Kennedy as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Tom, parents Eric and Emmy Aspling, and brother Frank Aspling.

She was born on September 17th, 1935 in Dryden, Ontario. She grew up in Amesdale and had fond memories of her time growing up there.  She married Tom on May 1st, 1959 and raised their three daughters. They spent most of their time camping, fishing, hunting, gardening as they both shared such a love for the outdoors.

She loved spending time with her family and was so proud of them all.  She also had a deep love for all of her pets

Her hobbies over the years were knitting, playing cards, scrapbooking and making the most beautiful flower arrangements from her gardens.  Having a visit over a cup of coffee with her friends and family was what she enjoyed the most.

Gertie was deeply loved by her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.

The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Dryden Regional Hospital and Patricia Gardens for taking such great care of her.

As per Gerties wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service.

I’m sad and sorry for us all to lose such a dear person in our lives, but especially for you and your family. What a blessing it was to have you nearby and involved in her life, and her in yours. I loved your mother as did so many others. She was the delightful young girl of her generation in Amesdale, and a delightful person and friend to so many throughout her life. Again, I’m sorry for our loss, and especially yours. I always wanted to have one more visit with her, but I suppose I will have to wait a while for that.

    Sincerely,
    Brian
