It is with great sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Elsie Thompson, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother on July 6, 2025.
Elsie was born in Vita Manitoba on March 15, 1937. In June of 1956, she married Emmett Thompson in Rainy River and it was there that they began their family. In 1972 Elsie and Emmett moved to Dryden to be closer to Emmett’s work.
Elsie enjoyed the outdoors in many different ways. She loved gardening, watching the birds and baby deer, and was always ready for a good fishing trip.
She leaves behind three children: Sheila Fediuk (Don) of Dryden, Randy Thompson (Bev) of Sioux Lookout, and Cindy Petranik (Wade) of Dryden; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Christopher, Marla, Shelby and Taylor; and six great grandchildren: Cameron, Kaitlyn, Reese, Clare, Lydia and Mae.
A Private family ceremony will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Dryden Regional Health Centre and Dr. Barrie for their care of Elsie during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the DRHC, P.O. Box 3003, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z6
