It is with a deep sadness and loss that we say goodbye.
Ed led an adventurous life. In fact, he lost a few body parts along the way. He was a pilot, a scuba diver, an avid and experienced outdoorsman, a skilled woodworker, a hockey defenseman for The Dryden Royals, an inventive cook, a fixer of things, a terrible driver, and a life master bridge player.
He was also a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and husband.
Ed was born in Toronto on March 21, 1936. His family moved to Central Patricia and then to Dryden when he was 12. At 18, he joined the Navy to see the world returning to Dryden where he worked at the Dryden Pulp and Paper Company. He retired as a “steamer” from Avenor in 1997.
Ed was predeceased by his parents Albert Eric and Edna May (Whiting) Wager, his older sister Joan Getson and his younger sister Anne Douglas.
Ed leaves behind his daughter Caroline and son-in-law Naji Mounayer, granddaughter Maya and her fiancé Nickolas Kowalczyk and granddaughter Samar, (all of Thunder Bay, ON), his wife and favourite bridge partner Gail Tamblin-Hall, Gail’s children Joanne Hall and Russell Ure and Sophie (Ottawa, ON), Susan Hall and Kevin Glenister (Oxdrift, ON), Brian and Jennifer Hall and Graham, Calvin and Violet (Dunrobin, ON), Mary and Corrie Trist and happily gained grandsons Carver and Raiden, his brother Victor and sister-in-law Linda Anne Wager (Victoria, BC), brother-in-law Ralph Getson (North Bay, ON) and his very close and much loved nieces and nephew.
In July, Gail and Ed hosted a Wager Family Reunion in Oxdrift when Ed, with great enjoyment, spent time with his family.

September 20, 2022 at 8:57 pmI worked with Ed in the Steam Plant. He was a great operator and we as a crew enjoyed many fun days fishing, hunting and operating the mill. It’s been a while Ed, but you are remembered like yesterday. I remember his laugh and how he loved playing cards. Rest in peace sir

October 6, 2022 at 2:11 pmI also worked with Ed in the Steam Plant. He was a very memorable character, always ready for a game of hearts and always ready for a prank. I remember many a time where he’d come in, quickly check the schedule to see if there were any extra helpers on shift and then quickly put in a floater and flee work. There was never a dull moment when he was around. Rest in piece Ed.

October 10, 2022 at 3:36 amEd was a friend and co-worker of our father Ed. I remember many arrivals of them at our home after spending the day ice fishing. I know they had lots of laughs and good times.
We are sorry for your loss.
