Donald Laybourne May 23, 1950 - March 27, 2025

Date of Funeral

April 2, 2025

Donny passed away peacefully with his family by his side.

Donny was the loving husband of Leslie (Whalen) and a dedicated father to Michael (Angela), Jesse (Erin) and Rebecca (Darren). Donny was the proud grandfather of Chase, Aliyah, Matthew, Ryder, Jack and Elora.

Donny was predeceased by his mother Jeanette (Rippel), father Osborne and sister Gayle (Parsons).

He is survived by his sister Jeanette (Turner)brother-in law Mike Turner, sister-in-law Debbie Friesen, brother-in-law Dave Friesen and numerous nieces and nephews.

Donny was an avid animal lover and was rarely seen without one of his many beloved dogs. He loved the outdoors and spent life outside whenever he was able. Donny`s absolute favourite place was his cabin on beautiful Caribou Lake. He spent his life building a place where his family could go to spend time together and fish on what he considered the best lake in the world. In addition to fishing, Donny enjoyed walking his dogs, hunting, painting and gardening. Donny was a very talented Craftsman and built multiple houses, camps and family heirlooms. Wood for these builds was often forested by Donny and cut on his own sawmill. Donny worked as a Mechanic and a Forester for most of his life and was proud of the hard work he put in doing both.

Most of all, Donny was a proud husband, father and grandfather.

We miss him, his wry sense of humour and the tall tales he often told us.

A Service will take place on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the Best Western with Brian Eschbach officiating.
