Daryl Badiuk March 14, 1989 - January 26, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family of “DJ” Daryl James Badiuk announces his passing on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at the Dryden Regional Hospital.

DJ was born on March 14, 1989, in Terrace, BC, to Melissa Badiuk and Raymond Brown. He spent the first seven years of his life in Terrace, BC, before moving to Saskatchewan and later to Dryden, ON. DJ completed his Grade 12 at Red Lake High School, worked at Badiuk’s Sausage in Red Lake, and volunteered at the local museum. DJ also volunteered at the Dryden Food Bank and at the museum, where he enjoyed meeting new people. He later moved to Balmertown, where he lived for eight years, before returning to Dryden, where he resided at Princess Court until his sudden passing.

DJ was an exceptional young man with a vast knowledge of music, movies, and computers—passions he cherished, along with his love for food (he had a great appetite and loved to eat). He had a wonderful laugh that came from deep within and loved spending time with his Uncle Lawrence Badiuk and Cousin Dan Badiuk until their passing, whom he missed dearly. The loss of his grandpa, Reneld Lauzier, was particularly hard on him. As a young boy, DJ was loved by everyone who had the privilege of getting to know him. He had a great sense of humour and a kind, big heart. He was often referred to as “the friendly giant” as far back as kindergarten. He loved being around people who treated him with respect, especially since he faced personal challenges which he “never” complained about but simply accepted. Even as his illness gradually affected his body, legs, and feet, and eventually his hands, he never complained or felt sorry for himself.

DJ was predeceased by his Gedo Alex and Baba Della Badiuk, his great-grandparents the Gair’s, and his grandpa Reneld Lauzier. He leaves behind his mother, Melissa; his brother, Connor; and his Baba, Emily Badiuk. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Rest in peace, our wonderful DJ.

There will be no service at this time, and cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
