A Celebration of Life will take place on Monday, January 15, 2023 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. with a Come & Go lunch provided at the Dryden Community Funeral Home.
Cremation is to follow with interment at a later date.
We wish to pass along our heart felt condolences to Jody and all the McKay family at this very difficult time. We knew that Christine was struggling of late but were shocked by her sudden passing.
Know that we are thinking of you all as you celebrate the life of a wonderful Mother, Sister, Aunt and Grandmother.
She will be missed.
To Christine’s family…
I met Christine many years ago when she walked into the Fashionette looking for a haircut. There was an instant bond between this beautiful gentle lady and myself that lasted the test of time. We would go on the share snippets of our lives with each other every time we met. Sometimes Christine would show me her feisty side which at first surprised me & made me laugh out loud. I loved it when she felt safe enough with me to share this side of herself because she always wanted to portray her polite demeanour.
I remember a time when she was in hospital in the same room as my stepmother. She was having trouble cutting her meat at dinner time. Instead of asking for help, she struggled away. Even when I offered to help, she was hesitant to bother me. I said well Christine you have two options…let me cut your meat or pick it up in your hands & eat it. There was no way she was going to do that…so she finally let me cut her meat for her. After that I would check in with her to see if she needed anything & she was comfortable to ask for assistance.
Over the years as Christine’s health declined, I would notice her fighting spirit emerge even stronger. She always had a smile on her face & a positive attitude. I learned many lessons from this dear lady & loved her as I would my own Mother.
Rest peacefully dearest Christine. Thank you for sharing your wisdom & love with me. Forever in my heart you will be.
Much love,
Francine Higgins
