Caitlin (Katie Rose) Kavanaugh

March 15, 1997 – January 9, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Caitlin Kavanaugh (Katie Rose) age 20 on January 9, 2017.  Katie Rose’s Anishnaabe name is Kakawabinsiik (Everlasting Thunder Bird Woman).  Katie Rose was known by her family and friends to enjoy taking part in various community activities, she enjoyed fishing and being out on Eagle Lake.  Katie Rose enjoyed music, especially the band Green Day.

Katie Rose was a fancy shawl dancer, she enjoyed taking part in her community pow-wows and was known for her artistic creativity.   Katie Rose is survived by her companion and ‘best bud’ Anthony Chad Brown, her mother April, her step father Grant, brothers Ryan (Caleigh), Cody, Nigel (Chelsea), her sister Chantalle and her nieces and nephews, Hailey Rae, Arianna, Lauren, Nova Lynn, Rayna and Damien and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Katie Rose is predeceased by her father James Kavanaugh, her paternal grandparents Pat Kavanaugh and Marianne Kavanaugh, her maternal great-grandparents Rosalie Lands and Robert Lands.

Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at 11 a.m. until time of service at the Eagle Lake Community Hall. A Traditional Service will take place on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Lake Community Hall with Elder Roy Napish officiating.
