Allan enjoyed many things in life, spending his days painting and walking around, fishing, blueberry picking and his bingo. One of Allan’s favorite things to do was to guide every year at Green Island Lodge on the upper Manitou lake chain. He loved taking his Americans musky fishing and they were always happy with their time on the lake. Allan ever loved his fishing, during his time off he would take his partner Barb and grandson Jacob fishing every year for a week, made special shore lunches for them and caught a lot of fish. Another time he went fishing with his daughter Chicky and they were trolling when they heard a big splash, then they noticed pliers laying at the bottom for removing hooks from fish, and he said look some dumb F**er lost his pliers, they ended up catching a fish and found out that his pliers were missing. They had a good laugh together because he was the one that lost it.
Allan spent time with his nieces and nephews when they were growing up. Took Chris out hunting and fishing, they had many good times and plenty of laughs during those times and many good memories.
Allan spoke often how much he enjoyed spending time with his family and all his adventures when they were younger living in Dyment, him and his brothers and his good friend Randy Pakarinen. He spoke often of times going out and playing ball and other pursuits as well as ice fishing.
During his fight with cancer he tried to be positive, up to 3 days before he left this world he was joking around and being a tease like always, trying to make others laugh and smile, and he succeeded with many. He was still drawing mountain scenes, and wanted to paint with his water colors. He enjoyed watching the big families of deer that would always come up to his window or play around in the back courtyard at the hospital.
We would also like to say thank you to Dr. Cook and his team, all the nurses from Dryden Regional that went above and beyond to make him comfortable, and all other staff, the cafeteria workers that always came in and made him smile. Everyone was very awesome.
