In loving memory of Agnes Cantin ““Waazhwaashiik”. Born May 29, 1949 in Emo, ON, departed June 3, 2021 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
Agnes was predeceased by her parents Ella Bob and Allister Morrison, siblings; Edwin, Albert, Conrad, Donald, Michael and Rose, grandchildren; Tiffany and Daniel, in-laws; Stanley, Roy, Birdie Sr., Madeline, Peter, nephew Roy Jr., and her beloved husband Ruben Cantin Sr.
Agnes leaves behind her sister Dorothy, brothers; Fred (Gail) and Jerry (Kelly), children; Amanda Munn (Leslie), Ruben Jr., Karen Shabaquay (Marcel), Teresa LaCroix (Lloyd) and Stephanie Cantin (Louie Pitchenese), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Agnes is from Wabigoon Lake First Nation where she and her husband raised their five children.
Agnes was dedicated and enjoyed her time travelling with her husband while he was chief and councillor for Wabigoon Lake First Nation. She had never left his side.
Agnes loved supporting her family in sports. Whether it be hockey, golf or baseball. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She dedicated her time helping with WLON community events – taking part in cooking duck soup and frying bannock and fish. Agnes continued on collecting medicines with her fellow community members at WLON.
Agnes enjoyed playing poker with the community members and playing bingo in Wabigoon and Eagle Lake. She also enjoyed the great outdoors, fishing and attending family gatherings.
The Cantin and Morrison family would like to the Dryden Regional Health Centre and the dedicated staff. Also thank you to the Toronto General Hospital and nursing staff.
