Arthur Dustin July 17, 1946 - June 22, 2025

Date of Funeral

July 2, 2025

With heavy hearts, his family announces the passing of Arthur Dustin in the early morning hours of June 22, 2025, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Surrounded by love, he left this world the way he lived – humbly and with incredible strength.

Arthur was the heart of our family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Anne, who stood faithfully by his side through every joy and every challenge. He will be deeply missed by his children Terri-Anne (Shawn), Shayne (Alysn), and Shawn (Alesha), and his adored grandchildren: Jonathan (Candace) & Matthew (Mehgan) Kereliuk, Cian & Grace Dustin, and Adysin & Ezra Dustin—each of whom brought him immeasurable pride and happiness.

Art also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom he made a lasting impression on through his kindness, humor, and genuine interest in their lives.  Art was blessed to have such a strong relationship with caring sister-in-law Carolyn Schmidt, life long friends Gordon and Vivian McKee and so many other dear friends and extended family—far too many to name—who held a special place in his heart. He is reunited now with the many beloved relatives and friends who passed before him, whose memories he carried with him every day.

Art was born at home in Fort Frances on July 17, 1946, delivered by a midwife to Ezra and Flora Dustin as their eighth child. His childhood was filled with outdoor adventures, school days, and countless hours at the local rink, where his love of hockey took root early.

His family later relocated to Crozier, where Art found joy in old cars and his horse – two passions that brought him much happiness. It was at a teen dance in Crozier that he met Annie McLean, the love of his life. They were married on June 5, 1965, and soon after moved to Dryden, where Art began a long and dedicated 38-year career at the pulp & paper mill.

Over the years he worked hard and wore many hats, including serving as union president, and retired as the head of the clothing crew. Art formed many lasting friendships during his time there—bonds that endured long after his retirement.

Art’s happy place was always outdoors—especially on the lake in his boat with a fishing rod in hand. He found joy in camping trips, card games, storytelling around the fire, and time spent with those he loved most. Whether it was a quiet afternoon on the water or a spirited cribbage tournament at Tom’s camp, Art’s laughter, wit, and warm presence made every moment memorable.

But more than anything, Art was proud of his family. He delighted in the everyday moments—their stories, their successes, their silliness. He celebrated them all. His love was quiet, steady, and always felt.

We are endlessly grateful for the time we had with him, for the lessons he taught us, and for the memories that will live on in our hearts.

To everyone who reached out with kind words, brought meals, flowers, or simply stood beside us—thank you. Your love carried us. A very special thank you to the incredible team at the Dryden Oncology Unit. You were more than caregivers—you were his rock. Our heartfelt thanks also go to Dr. Del Paggio, Dr. Bester, and Dr. Cook for their dedicated support and compassion through the most trying of times.

Art, Dad, Grandpa—your courage, your humor, and your deep love will forever be a part of who we are. We miss you more than words can say.

With all our love,

The Dustin Family
