Kiyoshi Shoguchi December 10, 1929 - January 29, 2025

Date of Funeral

February 4, 2025

Aged 95, Poppa, a beloved figure in Dryden, sadly left our world on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Known for his friendly waves during his daily walks and his active lifestyle on the curling rink, golf course, and at the Dryden-Go-Getters Activity Centre, Kiyo was a true presence in the community. He was born on December 10, 1929, in New Westminster, BC.

He was predeceased by Rosalie Tams, beloved daughter Elaine Jones (née Shoguchi), and his soulmate Doris Shoguchi.

Kiyo is survived by his sons, Guy Shoguchi (Vicki) and Barry Shoguchi (Karen), and stepson Dale Leutschaft (Doreen). He is also survived by Erin (Chris), Jolene (Greg), and his sister-in-law Lorraine (Gordon). He will be missed by his grandchildren, Jasmine (Wayne), Brittney (Danny), Brent (Megan), Mark, Kiyshia, and Lauren (Blair), as well as his great-grandchildren Jevon, Berkley, McKinley, Hiro, Dax, Raine, Charlotte, Mara, Harper, and Brynn, who will continue to honour his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Kiyo’s life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and the profound love he held for his family. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A special thank you to Dr. Adam Moir, Pam Miller, and his watchful neighbours. We also extend our gratitude to our work family for taking such good care of him, as well as the staff at Princess Court.

We invite all who knew him to join us in celebrating the life of a truly remarkable gentleman who was loved deeply and will be missed.  There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home.

We are so very sorry to hear of Kiyo’s passing. Such fond memories of “pappa Shoguchi” watching over the Schmidt Cres. herd of kids. Remember our chats fondly when I would run into him on one of his walks or the wave as I would drive by . Our heartfelt sympathy to the Shoguchi family from Dean, Delilah and family

Kiyo was such a gentleman and so caring. Even though I’ve known him for many years, my most recent memories have been from the GoGetters. He loved to play cards and to dance. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. He will be missed.
