Ruth Hadley July 17, 1934 - December 8, 2024

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Viola Ruth Hadley, on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at the age of 90. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Ruth passed peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones.

Ruth was born on July 17, 1934, in Waldhof, Ontario, to William and Evelyn Hansson (née Smith). She was the fifth of eight children and grew up on the family farm, where she learned the value of hard work and perseverance. Ruth’s strong work ethic never wavered, and she carried this spirit throughout her life, always approaching each challenge with grace and determination.

Ruth’s love for life was evident from an early age.  Mom worked a variety of jobs, from cleaning camp cabins and waiting tables to working at the Dryden Paper Bag Company and Safeway.

On June 8, 1957, Ruth married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Hadley. Their 52 years of marriage were filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Together, they enjoyed summers at their camp on Encamp Lake, creating a peaceful sanctuary enjoyed by their family.

Ruth was a proud mother to four children: Wendy (Victor), Dean (Delilah), Brian (Dale), and Bill (Shelley). She was a devoted and loving grandmother to ten grandchildren and a great-grandmother to fifteen great-grandchildren. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she cherished each moment with them.

Ruth’s warm, compassionate heart led her to form deep and meaningful friendships, including with her special friend Edward Kusnick, with whom she spent many happy years. She was predeceased by her husband Bob, her son-in-law Victor Larson, and her brothers William, Carl, Edward, Elmer, and Earl Hansson.

In her free time, Ruth enjoyed simple pleasures such as drinking coffee with friends and family, gardening, completing puzzles, playing cards, and participating in bingo. Her infectious laughter and nurturing spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Ruth’s legacy of kindness, love, and dedication to her family and friends will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to share in her life. We will forever remember her beautiful soul and the immeasurable love she gave to us all.

Ruth’s family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses at DRHC whose compassionate care helped bring her comfort and dignity in her final days.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Private Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

    Sending Condolences to Ruth’s family.

We got to know Ruth when a member of our family, EIleen Brodhagen, was a resident of Patricia Gardens.

Their group, Ken & Gladie,Irene,Helen, Ruth & EIleen would gather every night for a game of cards and to catch up on their day.

Ruth, being the “youngest” of the group was always there for them when they needed assistance of any kind.

I ‘m sure they will be welcoming her to their nightly card game!
