Carolyn Jewett February 12, 1959 - September 18, 2024

Date of Funeral

October 4, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Carolyn Jewett, aged 65, on September 18, 2024.

Born to George and Grace Stang on February 12, 1959, in Emo, Ontario, Carolyn was raised in North Branch alongside her siblings Marilyn, Clayton, Donna, and Barbara. During her early years, Carolyn learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and community, which shaped the foundation of her life. Carolyn met her soul mate, Paul, as a teenager and enjoyed 46 years of married bliss. Paul and Carolyn shared a deep bond that endured through the years. They were best friends, inseparable and often seen as two peas in a pod. Their connection was truly extraordinary. Together, they moved to Dryden, where they raised their daughter Paula and son Jason. She loved her children deeply and took great pride in the wonderful individuals they grew to be.

Carolyn was a dedicated worker throughout her life. She held various positions, but most enjoyed the 25 years as manager with Subway at Dryden High School, where she was affectionately known as the “Subway Lady” by students. Her friendly smile and caring personality made her a favorite among both students and staff, and she had a remarkable knack for remembering each kid’s order, often asking if they would like the “usual”.

The greatest joy in Carolyn’s life came from her grandchildren: Sydney, Chelsea, Jaxson, Jordyn, and Jenna. Though she joked about losing her mermaid tail, she never lost her sparkle or her love for playful teasing and storytelling. From baking their favorite treats to cheering at soccer and hockey games, she filled their lives with laughter and inside jokes. Each grandchild held a special place in her heart, and the unique bonds they shared were her greatest treasures.

In her spare time, Carolyn enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time at the ice shack. For many years on Family Day, their ice shack on Wabigoon Lake became a canvas of creativity, featuring themes like Thomas the Train, a Redneck Roost, and Elsa’s Castle, bringing joy and unforgettable celebrations to her family and the community. She also had a passion for decorating, particularly during the holiday season. Alongside Paul they transformed their yard on Kellar Road into a festive wonderland, a neighborhood tradition that grew more elaborate each year. This annual display brought joy not just to their family but to the entire community, making every holiday season a magical experience. Generous and caring, Carolyn was always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Known for her exceptional baking, she often took special requests, filling the bellies and hearts of many. She will be remembered for her warmth, creativity, and the joy she brought to those around her. Her selfless spirit and kindness touched the lives of many.

Carolyn is predeceased by her father, George Stang. She is survived by her husband Paul, her mother Grace Stang, daughter Paula Oltsher (Cory), son Jason (Jessica), grandchildren Sydney, Chelsea, Jaxson, Jordyn, and Jenna, her siblings Marilyn Stang (Dave) of Dryden, Clayton Stang (Kimmie) of Emo, Donna McQuaker (Bud) of Stratton, and Barbara Heyens (George) of Stratton, nieces and nephews, extended family and many special friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 1 p.m. at The Centre with Mardi-Lee Plomp officiating.

A Private Interment of her ashes will take place at a later date.

Paul and Paula.. the years have passed too quickly. It was truly shocking to see Carolyn’s picture and notice on CKDR. No longer living in the province but know I will be thinking of your family as you navigate the difficult days ahead without Carolyn.
    Sincere condolences. Rena
