With heavy hearts we announce the passing of John Groves, following a hard fought battle, with his family by his side. He grew up in Dryden and always considered it his home. John married Peggy in 1971, and they moved to Ignace in 1978, where they built their home and family.
He is survived by Peggy, son Robin (Denise and daughter Rebecca) of Thunder Bay, daughter Sara (Rich- John, Lillie, Robin, Jack) of Airdrie, AB, brother Dan Groves (Pat), sister Shannon Borton (Ken), sister Ruby Smith, sister Janis Wessel (Dave), all of Dryden, brother Paul Carriere (Gloria) of Winnipeg, cousins Pat, Penny and Gail, nieces, nephews, and many other extended family.
John was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Sylvia, cousins Brian and Bill Groves, sister-in-law Irene, nephew Kevin, dear friend Linda Gouliquer and numerous aunts, uncles and other relatives.
John grew up in rural Dryden, and had a life-long love and respect for the outdoors. He loved his flower gardens, fishing, and hunting, and found his place in life working at Metionga Lake, with his faithful dogs by his side.
