Helen Ariss October 4, 1944 - February 5, 2024

It is with great sadness to announce the unexpected passing of Helen Ariss (Lichty) on February 5, 2024.

Helen was a very creative person with her sewing and quilt making as well as an excellent cook, her cheesecake was a family favorite. She was kind and generous and always willing to help anyone who asked. Her laugh was one of a kind and will be sadly missed.

She had a quick wit about her, and she was very funny. She loved debating the current events at any time, she was very passionate in her debates.

She had a comforting presence, that put people at ease the moment they met her. She loved her family with all of her heart and did whatever she could if help was needed.

Helens favorite thing was taking walks along the river with her faithful companion Tucker.

She enjoyed weekends at the cabin with her daughter Heather and going to visit her daughter Jodie and her grandsons as well as visiting her son David and grand daughters.

She was so loved; her passing will leave a hole in the hearts of those who loved her.

May you have peace mom.

Helen was predeceased by her husband Dave Ariss, and siblings Eddie Lichty, Earl Lichty, Freida Gerber, Irene Shantz, Norman Lichty, Edith Nafziger, Marie Gooding, Jake Lichty, Carol Conolly, Allan Lichty, Wilma Kelterborn, Kenneth Lichty and Larry Lichty.

Helen leaves behind her sister Emmeline Roes, children Heather (Don) Yurkiw of Dryden, Jodie Bennett and grandsons Gord and Mike of Edmonton and her son Dave (Penney) Ariss and granddaughters Caillee and Makena of Ottawa, many nieces and nephews and her trusted companion Tucker.

“On that day I wondered why the clocks didn’t stop, why didn’t the world stop spinning, how could it not, for you are no more”

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday Feb10, 2024 at the Riverview Lodge 2 to 5 pm.
