Stanley Emms June 19, 1955 - May 16, 2021

In loving memory of Stan Emms, who passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Stan is survived by his wife Angela Lands, siblings; Carolyn (Ron) O’Neil, Johnny (Pauly) Emms and Don (Gwen) Emms as well as nieces and nephews.

Stan is predeceased by his parents Stan and Belva Emms and siblings Hazel Emms and Diane Gillet.

Stan loved the outdoors. He was often fishing, hunting and gardening. He often visited Eagle Lake for the nature and of course family. He considered it his second home.

He was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching baseball and his favourite hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also played hockey, jogged and lifted weights.

Stan worked for a great company in Thunder Bay, ON; Nordmin Engineering LTD. As a Consulting Specialist and Department Manager in Mining. This career allowed him to travel all over.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 11 a.m. until time of Service at the Eagle Lake Community Hall.

A Traditional Service will take place on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Eagle Lake Community Hall with Elders Robert Kelly and Mitchell Lands officiating.

Cremation to follow with Interment at a later date.

    Although I worked with Stan for only 2-1/2 years, he and I had a connection that made it seem like we had known each other for decades. Stan was passionate about his work and his knowledge about mining was unparalleled. He was also an inspiration during his challenges over the past few years. To call him one of the toughest people I’ve ever met is not an understatement. Good travels my Friend.

    My deepest sympathies go out to Angie and Stan’s family. It was a pleasure to work with Stan over this past year. I enjoyed hearing his mining stories and will miss his hockey analogies. Wishing you all comfort and peace during this difficult time.
