LORNE WAYNE VIVIAN

May 31, 1957 – January 13, 2018

In the wee hours of Saturday, January 13, Lorne Wayne Vivian went home to meet his Maker. In perfect harmony with Lorne’s unique personality, it was sudden and all or nothing, but not before he told his most loved ones good night and that he LOVES them.

Lorne literally LIVED to LOVE his soul mate Shannon, and children Mackenzie, Brayden and Alorah, as well as furbabies Sassy and Joplin (grand gecko Buggy too). He cherished his relationships with his Mom in Law Sandrea Peters, Sis in law Kristan (Craig), Livvie and Noah Jones. Lorne is missed by his Brutha from Anutha Mutha Dana Warren. In other parts of our Country, his memory will be cherished by his brother Keith (Brenda) Vivian, Sister Dallas (Frank) as well as Cora and Leonard Vivian Jr.

Gone before him are his parents Wilma and Leonard Vivian, sister Francis, as well as his partner of 17 years, Desiree Wilson. In his time with Desiree, Lorne helped raise stepsons Justin and Kyle Desaultels.

Lorne was born in Atikokan to parents Wilma and Leonard Vivian Sr. They moved around to many different places, and finally settled when they built their permanent home out of a cabin in Port McNickle. Lorne and his siblings attended school and growing up activities in nearby Midland Ontario.

Around 1975 Lorne’s journey found him headed west. After working in Thunder Bay for a while, he headed to Alberta, and eventually ended up in the Sioux Lookout area. With his old school work ethic he worked at Great Lakes, CN Rail, but really found his peace as a guide on Lac Seul. It was there in this role, and at one with nature that he really found himself. He ran an entire tourist camp and even became somewhat of a bear expert. He was even featured in newspaper articles for his expertise. Lorne was talented at so many things and really found his calling in the great outdoors with all the gifts nature had to offer. Lorne had an extremist drive for everything he gave himself to…whether it was cooking for Great Lakes or his calling as a mentor to many, he gave everything he had to what he was doing. Always a unique and old soul, Lorne stood for the Code of Honor, honesty, compassion, and loyalty.

Around 1990 Lorne moved to Dryden to build a life with Desiree and her two boys. He continued his work as a guide for a while but eventually ended up as a truck driver for two local companies. During one of his jobs in construction, Lorne incredibly survived a 38ft fall that would eventually lead to his retirement.

Lorne faced everything in his life with amazing strength and dignity. Sometime after the passing of his partner Desiree, through a mutual friend, Lorne was introduced to his current partner Shannon. Although he could no longer physically work, together they built a home and a life for their children Mack, Brayden and Alorah. All or nothing, Lorne dedicated everything he was to taking care of and providing for his loved ones. Lorne also had a creative approach to everything he pursued and family was no exception. Many hours were spent teaching those around him and passing on his knowledge of so many different things. Although at times he was in extraordinary pain, (besides his heart and injuries he also suffered RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) you never heard this man complain even as he nursed Shannon thru her illness while taking care of the home front in her absence. He loved many things, he had a deep passion for music and got right involved in our many family jams. He cherished his chats with his brother Keith and English toffee visits with Dana. Anyone who came to his door was treated with kindness, compassion, and respect. All of us will surely miss his baking and kitchen creations. He thoroughly trained the kids in this area, so no need to worry, no one will die of starvation or Kraft dinner overdose. Lorne was known for being a loyal friend and not judging anyone no matter what their story.

Although no one saw it coming, and there are no words to even articulate what life on earth will be without him, we know his pain is over. He is flying free in Heaven, and he gave us so much that we will never be without him. His stories, advice and his beautiful memory are carried in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He would want us all to stay united, and to take care and love one another. Someone so amazing and beautiful never really dies. And we will cherish this great man for the rest of our lives until we can be together again.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, January 19th, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel with Pastor Wayne Toews officiating.
