Hugh Neall September 2, 1940 - November 13, 2020

Condolences may be posted at www.dcfh.ca

My lovely, lovely man Hugh Patrick Neall has taken his final journey on his own. He left without much warning, but enough time for his family to say “Good Bye”, whether in person or electronically.

His humor remained with him until the end, also his compassion and caring never wavered.

Hugh served in the Royal Navy in Malta where he met his wife to be Jackie.  They married in Malta in 1966.

His life was devoted to providing for his family.  After coming to Canada in 1975 Hugh worked in Mining and the Forestry Industry until his retirement.

I am bereft, I will cry a lot, maybe drink a little, and then pull myself up by my boot straps and get on with life as I know he would want me to.

The memories of the adventures we shared will be with me forever. I am fortunate to have loved Hugh for the past 55 years and will continue to love him forever. I honor the man he was, in the words of friends and family, he was strong, caring, funny, quiet, interesting, well read, kind, thoughtful, sensitive, intelligent, well-traveled, a bit of a rogue, dapper, anti-establishment, proud, detail oriented, gentlemanly, refined, a reluctant ladies man, (I’m not sure about the reluctant), protector, listener, supporter, and above all an amazing human being.

He will be missed by his children; son John partner Violet, son Clive partner Angela and daughter Sara partner Jim, his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, his brother John and sister Rosemary and brother-in-law Arthur and sisters-in-law Susan and Giselle.  His many nieces and nephew and great nieces, as well as the many friends and relations around the world will also miss Hugh/Pat/Phred.

Thank you, Hugh, for a life of remarkable adventures and wonderful memories to sustain me in your absence. Thank you for an amazing family. I love you more than words can say.

And in the sweetness of friendship,

Let there be laughter and sharing of pleasures,

For in the dew of little things,

The heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life and Interment will take place at a later date.
