Harry John Leckner October 22, 1946 - May 4, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing our father, brother and uncle, Harry John Leckner Jr. (John) surrounded by family on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, in his 74th year. Loving father of Gillian. Beloved brother to Willian (Bill) Leckner, Linda Wollis, Doreen LaGrandeur, Leonard Leckner and Debbie Leckner.

John was surpassed by his parents Mary and Harry John Leckner Sr., ex-wife and friend Lynda Murphy, brother’s in-law Lloyd Wollis, Pete LaGrandeur and Thomas Boss (Debbie).

He will be missed by his many nieces, great neices, nephews and great nephews. John will be fondly remembered by all those who knew him.

John was an avid outdoorsman. He very much loved spending time with family and friends fishing, hunting and camping.

He loved the family life, spending time with his daughter Gillian, Danny, Diane and Gord of whom he thought of as his own children and treated them as such. Passing on his knowledge and values to them.

Legacy of Love – Unknown

This is the legacy we have from you.

You taught us love and how to fight,

You gave us strength, you gave us might.

A stronger person would be hard to find,

And in your heart, you were always kind.

You fought for us all in one way or another,

Not just as a husband not just as a father.

For all of us you gave your best,

Now the time has come for you to rest.

So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep,

Your love in our hearts, we’ll eternally keep

There will be no visitation, as cremation has taken place. Services will be held at a later date.

My deepest condolences to the family of John. I met John through his work with my grandparents, Ross and Norah Finch at Polar Star Lodge. My first recollection was when John took me, my cousin Jason Finch, and my grandpa trout fishing on Lake Mameigwess in the early 80s.

John was a kind man. I would run into him from time to time he would always asked how my mother ( Laurie Desautels (Finch) was doing.

What I appreciate the most of John was after my grandpa passed away, he would still go up to the camp and visit my grandmother and have tea with her until she passed away. He was a very kind man.

    Take care,
    Todd Desautels
