Carl Lindquist July 19, 1936 - November 3, 2019

Expressions of sympathy may be sent to dcfh@drytel.net subject heading: Lindquist

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Carl Fredric Lindquist announce his passing on November 3rd at the age of 83. Carl came into this world on July 19th 1936 to parents Axel and Ruby. Carl joined sisters Grace, Roberta and was followed by brother Peter and two more sisters Maxine and Karen. Carl was born in Dryden, attending school there and went to work for the “company” as everyone called it then. He would work there for a number of years on the tug boats in the summer and drive truck in the winter. He met Carol Mann in 1961 and they were married in 1962. Together they had four children: Mark, Cecelia, Martin and Ruby.

Carl was predeceased by his parents, his brother Pete and most sadly his son Mark. He leaves behind his wife Carol, his four sisters and his children Cecelia, Martin (Lee Ann), Ruby and grandchildren Andrew, Erin and Jack.

Carl became a resident of Mutrie township in Eagle River in 1962 as he and Carol built their home here. They never really stopped building over the years, and the house got pretty big. They had Christmas party’s there every year for 50 years, and it was the only home that could have over 100 people and not seem crowded. Carl seemed very much at home on the land and he and Carol ran a small farm while he worked for the company for many years. They grew lots of hay and grain crops to feed the animals. He enjoyed harvesting timber from the property, and the land also supplied the fire wood to heat their home for all these years.

Due to the advance stage of dementia, the last three months were spent at Princess Court where Carol went in every day to help with his care, and to keep him company. Ultimately, this is the disease that took his life.

Carl and Carol started their own contracting business hauling wood and gravel. In the winter, they plowed and sanded for the Ministry of Transportation, and kept this up for many years. They retired from that 20 years ago, but they were kept busy maintaining their large home and property.

As a farmer, contractor, builder, and more, Carl became pretty handy at fixing equipment and making things work. He did his share of hunting and fishing with his friend Andrew Heide. He and his family made many trips out to Western Canada to visit family.

Thanks to the staff at Princess Court. You made a difference.

In lieu of flowers please do something nice for yourself. Enjoy every day as if it’s your last, for life is short my friend.

A Celebration of Life for Carl will be held on Friday, November 8th, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Vermilion Bay Lions Hall.
