Expressions of sympathy may be sent to dcfh@drytel.net subject heading: Brown

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Flamand-Brown at the age of 66 years.  Barbara passed away peacefully at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on Friday, October 11, 2019.

Barbara was born in Ethelbert, Manitoba on December 18, 1952.  Her early schooling was in Camperville, Manitoba until the family moved and settled in Dryden, Ontario in the early 1960’s.

As a teen, Barbara attended Dryden High School and loved playing various sports especially volleyball.  After high school, Barbara worked at the Trans Canada Restaurant with her mother then attended Confederation College in Thunder Bay where she studied social work. Barbara worked in group homes and enjoyed working with children.

In 1976, Barbara got married and moved to Edmonton, Alberta. In 1977 she moved back to Dryden and had a baby son, Jeremy.  Jeremy was the pride and joy of Barbara’s life.

Throughout the years Barbara has lived in Dryden and enjoyed her community.  She enjoyed shopping at the local shops and going for coffee around town.  You could always count on Barb to know which diner had the best lunch special of the day!

Barbara was predeceased by her father Jack Flamand and niece Erinn Flamand. Barbara is survived by her son Jeremy Brown, mother Milli Flamand and brothers Mervin, Bob and Tom along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb’s laughter and wit will be greatly missed.

The Family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Dryden Regional Health Centre for all their care and support over the years.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with prayers by Father Alan Campeau.

Internment will take place at a later date.
