Condolences may be posted at www.dcfh.ca

In loving memory, Agnes Bachmann, age 73, who passed away suddenly Sunday morning, October 25, 2020.

With family by her side, the Creator peacefully returned our loving mother, sister and friend to the spirit world.  Agnes will join her mother Sarah and father, sister Rose, bothers Peter and Dan and many family and friends.

Agnes will be deeply missed by her children Ian (Gennine), Diana (Howard), Candace, her grandchildren Marteena, Tiffany, Harrison, her great grandson Nodin, her great grandfurbabies Truffles, Yuki, Niishime and her ‘Sisters’, friends & colleagues far and wide.

Agnes was a proud member of Waabigon Saaga’igan Anishinaabeg.  Her childhood was spent both in and out of community.  After leaving school, she worked various jobs and at times, two jobs and worked and lived alongside her community sisters.  Agnes settled in Dryden with Wulf Bachmann where they worked really hard, built a family, home and businesses.  Later in life, she was with her partner Reino Huitika and both ran the Dairy Queen.  Agnes received her Child Care Worker Diploma and devoted her life to children and families and worked within the surrounding communities for over 30 years. In January 2013, Agnes was recognized for her service by receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal. Agnes was also on many committees and boards.  Agnes was a proud Board of Director for the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA) and she cherished her ONWA family and dedicated many years to bring “A Voice for Indigenous Women’s Issues” – ONWA.

Agnes was known to many for her kind, compassionate and giving spirit and considered everyone to be part of her extended family.  Agnes loved her grandchildren beyond words. Agnes was a good listener, had a big heart and saw the good in people and was with you during your good times and hard times. Agnes – she is compassionate, a leader, wise, resilient, inspirational, tenacious, determined, trailblazer, she is strong. “I Love You!”
